Efficacy of drug-coated balloons versus drug-eluting stents in bifurcated lesions: a systematic review and meta-analysis
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40180240
We’re proud to announce that Synthesa’s Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer, Lefteris Teperikidis, and his team have just published a new systematic review and meta-analysis in the Hellenic Journal of Cardiology!
This study synthesizes evidence from 11 studies and 2,383 patients, offering new insights into the comparative efficacy of drug-coated balloons (DCBs) versus drug-eluting stents (DES) for complex coronary bifurcation lesions.
Key Findings:
- DCBs and DES show comparable efficacy for major cardiovascular outcomes (MACE, TLR)
- DCBs were significantly superior in reducing late lumen loss
- Subgroup analysis revealed DCBs were especially effective in de novo bifurcated lesions
AI-assisted innovation:
The study transparently reports the use of AI tools like ChatGPT to support search strategy design, screening, data extraction, and R script generation—demonstrating Synthesa’s ongoing commitment to integrating AI into evidence synthesis workflows.
We’re thrilled to see Synthesa’s methodology and mission reflected in peer-reviewed work.
Congratulations to Dr. Teperikidis and the entire author team!
